You do drain all the air first I assume before trying to disconnect quick coupler.

I'll use quick couplers sometimes but I prefer compression fittings if I can use them instead. I've never had a compression fitting leak or fail. Certainly can't say the same for quick connects.

Maybe he should cut the end off and look inside? If it’s not rusty then he’s good to go. Then he won’t even need an air compressor cause it will catch so much air when driving forward ……..shhhh. It’ll be our secret invention.

    :D

I would just put some JB weld, a piece of sheet metal, some duct tape, a few zip ties and couple big hose clamps for extra safety. Seriously a big hose clamp, or a few put together, might work on one, for emergency, if it ever started leaking from a pinhole.

Yes, I've still had trouble with a few. Most of the ones I've had give out were the originals on the truck, untouched til recently, 900k or so.

if you can hit it with a hammer in a bunch of places and it doesn't put a hole in it ur good. some spots will knock off chunks like sponge, unpainted metal is just dirt with a longer shelf life

Use masking tape and number each airline and take a picture before you get started.
    Makes everything simpler.

Well finally after 5 months of buying a new tank, I installed it yesterday.

Of course it was a headache. Couldn't get two of the valves off, the couplers ended up stripping, even with putting tons of heat on them. Ended up taking the old tank to a local shop for help. They have a big Vice table and huge pair of pliers that fit around those valves.... They came right off that way...

    Live and Learn!!!

Got my self a big pair of pliers coming in the mail now. ;)

I had one burst a hole and break the tank strap on my FLD a few months ago. New ones were backordered months out. I paid almost $200 shipped but got a used one in about a week from Vander Haag's. New ones are about $130 if you can find them, or were. Freightliner charges $300 for new ones on backorder.. Luckily the one Vander Haag's sent was not rusted anywhere amazingly and they even threw in the used straps which were good too.
