I get 25% of gross. No benefits, no detention. I chose to be on 1099 instead of w2(yes I know). Mostly drop and hook dedicated. Comes out to like $.52 a mile for me. Pay is not that great. I will be changing gig soon.

I guess I was equating my situation…I feel that I am all of the above that you listed there, but the company I work for I know for a fact I’m making $.10-$.12 per mile less than I could get at many places. How do I know this? Because I’ve been offered several times. Lol that said a lot of these other positions were between 2200 and 2600 miles a week. Which is absolutely nothing for me. The company I work for, consistently I drive over 3000 miles weekly so I’m still getting a decent check.
I guess driving 2400 miles a week for the same weekly paycheck would be nice in many ways.Midwest Trucker, Pamela1990 and REO6205 Thank this. -
This should be printed out and sent to every company in America.Savor the Flavor, dwells40, Pamela1990 and 1 other person Thank this.

It wouldn't make any difference. The megas think they're doing it right.
I just wonder though, if the megas copied the business model from some of the old time outfits that got run out of business by deregulation they might be better off.
Somebody mentioned relaying the loads. That's the best idea yet. CF, PIE and a whole bunch of others did that and it worked out great.
They did it with low powered trucks, pencil and paper, and telephones. Can you imagine how much easier it would be now with computers, apps, and all that other stuff?
Deregulation killed the big freight haulers but what I've seen taking their place is worse.
As far as drivers go, drivers in those days were proud of what they did and considered it a profession. Nobody in those days got into driving because it was only thing they could do.Savor the Flavor, Midwest Trucker, dwells40 and 5 others Thank this. -
You come strolling in here, spewing common sense, and logic, telling it how it is. Just who the heck do you think you are.
No wild statements, complete BS, and crazy comments. Stop that will you. This is the internet after all.

They're the kids who constantly whined "when are we ever going to use this?" to their math teachers.Pamela1990 and BennysPennys Thank this.

Before the internet there were meetings. Many many hours of meetings. Many hours of Tribal discussions where the elders spoke and the younger people shut the hell up and listened and learned. At first the meetings were tedious then I discovered there was a wealth of knowledge available to me and all I had to do was listen.
It dawned on me that being invited to attend was an honor.
I'll never be able to repay all those people from whom I learned so much.Savor the Flavor, Pamela1990, shooter19802003 and 3 others Thank this.
