Faster??? Are you loaded to 80K or pulling a real load at 140K or Bobtail? 226’s or 650’s? 10 speeds direct or 18 double over? The variables make more of a difference than what’s on the grill.Pamela1990 Thanks this.

Maybe and likely. I’ve just been reading about the other guy who is planning to get his CDL in the next 25 years so I don’t quite believe in people as much as I should. My bad.Pamela1990, wore out and Oxbow Thank this.

Strap a Honda generator to the frame and send it!Pamela1990 and Oxbow Thank this.

I’d buy a T800 with a 600 Cummins. 18 spd, 3.90 rear ends, with a heavy duty front axle. Possibly a tri-drive considering where you’re at.
Pamela1990 and Oxbow Thank this. -
I plan to fit my driving to whatever the truck and recharging logistics lets me do. It says 500 miles fully loaded on a full charge. Tesla megacharging stations still need to be built out around trucking travel lanes or in cities.
As far as predicting battery range in real world conditions like winter weather after a few years of battery degradation, that remains to be seen. But I want to take full advantage of the cost savings of owning a Tesla Semi, and will fit my runs around the limitations of the vehicle including just doing city P&D, or if megacharging stations are only in California and Nevada, moving there instead.Oxbow and Pamela1990 Thank this. -
When do they plan on upgrading the electrical grid? Doesn't California already have rolling blackouts in summer due to all the A/C units running?
Elroythekid, Diesel Dave, Oxbow and 2 others Thank this. -
California is doubling down on electric vehicles, including commercial ones. How the state goes about implementing the logistical infrastructure, that's on PG&E, the California legislature, the California Public Utilities Commission, or whatever bureaucratic mess they have to figure out.
I just know the numbers work out in the end. The state wants to require a certain percentage of commercial vehicles be electric. That means higher rates for those who make the cut.Pamela1990 Thanks this. -
I should update this after looking around for more information. The mandates are for new trucks sold to be electric in the state by a certain year, probably phased in with 100% sold being electric by 2035. Currently there are rebates and incentives for buying electric vehicles, with a new plan being signed into law recently. Here is a link explaining it.
New California law will make it easier to finance electric trucks, busesPamela1990 Thanks this.
