I delivered beer in New England for five years. Double parking in rush hour city traffic. Icy side walks in winter. Hand unload a thousand cases and dozens of kegs a day and hand truck them up and down stairs.Does that count?
Is LTL the best area of trucking? What's the catch?

Now you tell me, 30 yrs too late. Lol. They just told me to go hook them up. I was excited, first time pulling doubles. Detroit to Saginaw, came back empty with 1” of snow. 2nd time and last time, took a set of slicks to Michigan speedway, for the NASCAR race. That was cool, running he curvy Rt. 12 Tried to get the guy to let me BT around the track. No Luck. Only 2 times I’ve pulled doubles, just because I was the only one of the 10 Drivers that had the endorsement.

No. A 15 minute power nap or a 30-minute power nap can only help you if you are not on a major sleep deficit, and you are only tired because your body's circadian clock has caused your body to make melatonin because it is night time. If you are on a major sleep deficit, the only way to help in any way of real substance is to sleep for at least two hours. Ask any psychologist. Any psychologist will tell you the same thing.WannaGoTrucks2016 Thanks this.

Imo you shod reconsider FedEx depending on how far away it is. Dockwork isn't that bad, forklift is pretty fun, plus it would be temporary.
WannaGoTrucks2016, jmz and John Joel Glanton Thank this. -
I filled out an app for the driver apprentice. I would do it at this point. Maybe I'll follow up with a phone call

If LTL companies don't work out, I would focus on any mega close to you that has more options than just OTR; ie regional, dedicated accounts, even localWannaGoTrucks2016 and John Joel Glanton Thank this.

Thanks for the suggestion. If nothing comes up then I am going to Schneider orientation after New Year. JB Hunt is real close to me but they require 3 months experience which is odd. Too bad because they are hiring for a bunch of home daily positions. Maybe I can do beverage work for 3 months then bail.
