Extra weight, length, more to eventually rattle from the pounding, and most of all, they IMO are ugly.
    I love a simple truck.
Dislike chrome, stuff that doesn't need to be there.
I sleep like a baby in the seat, as long as its quiet.
I sometimes drive a truck to help out a friend, it has a sleeper. Feels really #### weird, i call it his winnebago.

Yes I understand that most of you men roll around in your motel on wheels, just isn't my thing.

Whatever it takes to get the Job done. Part of why I love the bush. Just hard working people, getting it done.
No unions, no BS, nobody micro managing, few rules.
But a mutual respect if you've been around a while, and earned it.
Thing with the bush is, some people only last 2 hours, 2 days or 2 weeks, but those who stick it out a while, often end up doing it as their lifetime career. They have common sense, work hard, fearless, and can Macgyver almost anything. These guys are my friends, we spend time together away from work, and they are also funny.

Truth be told, I miss being around logging. I planned on heading back to BC once logging recovered from the crash in 2008-2009 but I got an offer in Alberta I would have been crazy to turn down. My 1 year plan has turned into 13 so far lol.

I'll haul logs, fuel, and heavy equipment, belly dump isn't bad either. No desire to haul anything else, and I prefer to haul them in that order.
I like hauling logs a lot, and I like the people even more.

how large are this forest sites so they can afford to build such roads?
and how do they bring wood to main roads? all with forwarders or use some more offroad capable trucks?

here we mainly have forest tinning, country does not allow any higher weights for trucks, you need crane to load truck, legal payload is very low.
many of forest roads are in bad condition, it makes no sense to build something better.
we still use cable skidders as ones with grabs are too large and cant do job as it should be. harversters are not used too much, they dont work on many terrains (altrough in austria you can get ones that work on slope and even ones with cable system), and cant cut 100 year old oak.
all in total our timber industry is very slow and expensive.

    Oxbow Thanks this.

here people who dont need real bed in timber truck, buy extended day cab(+30cm) with 65cm wide folding bed.
it comes quite nice when you need it, when you wait for load (for example your friend is loading in front of you, or you stuck in mud and waiting for skidder)
it comes very nice for extra cloth and more space to change cloths when you are wet, in pure day cab it is difficult.
