    I have a 2012 Volvo vnl670 automatic no I-shift. And in the past week this L keeps popping up and won’t let me drive or reverse. Usually there’s an E there. Does anyone know what it means. Thank you C01F5C38-5DC6-48CB-A2C3-17134E402DD4.jpeg

    I don't know a whole lot about it, since I haven't had to use it. I think you only use it when your transmission is damaged and you need to get off the road or around the yard or whatever. I don't know if it can activate by itself.

    As soon as I turn off the truck and let it sit for a minute it goes away

    E or P are Normal modes of the transmission.
    L is a Fault mode. Your unit is not operable.
    If you have a Volvo shop close by drive it there.
    By pressing the push-button L at the back of your
    gear selector. If not, tow the unit.
    Once in the shop ask them to do an instrumented test drive
    using the Performance Tech Tool.
    It can be done in their yard.
    The Tool will catch anything that causes L mode to activate.
    The most common causes that activate an L mode are located at the
    brake and throttle pedals. Switches and sensors.
    Another one can be the speed sensor at the back of the transmission.
    Or the transmission itself. The 2012 Volvo 780 that I own did the same.
    Instrumented test drive scheduled for next Monday. I'll post an update.
