Petition to reduce 110 year sentence for truck driver in deadly I-70 pileup reaches nearly 1.5 milli

Maybe you should consider how you would feel if it was your son. I’m not saying the sentence wasn’t fair, but you have a lot of steam built up about it.

 

If my son intentionally killed 4 people like that driver did, I'd say "I'll see you in jail and I'll be dead by the time you get out." That won't happen as I've taught my daughter (only child) what the term personal responsibility actually means. Remember this driver also had the opportunity for a lesser sentence that he chose to not take.

 

Thank you. Maybe you should consider how I would feel it it was (knock on wood) my son killed by his actions, and consider how the number of people hurt by this guy's actions is much greater than the number of people hurt by this guy's SENTENCE. Therefore, apply utilitarianism and do the most good for the most people...SEND HIM UP THE RIVER FOR A LONG, LONG TIME.

What REALLY gets me a head of steam is Fox News doing a story on this and making it sound like truckers are outraged by the sentence, without mentioning all the truckers like me who GLADLY, HEARTILY SUPPORT this sentence. Fox news used to be an outlet I trusted...hasn't been for the last few years. Now I primarily trust Brietbart News.

 

If the petition works it will far outweigh covid as a threat. Not comparing it at all but what flood gate will this open.

I have not commented on my thoughts on the sentence and I will not. Retiring as a Trooper I don’t know how many I had to investigate because that’s what we did. And the scenes will haunt you.

They are all different so one can not be compared to another . I have seen so many miscarriages of justice. I have learned to accept what the courts do or it will drive you crazy.

The worst part of my job was notifying families that there loved one was fatally wounded in a collision.

 

Likely, by past White House petitions, all that will happen is the press secretary writes up a fanciful worded document that basically says "This is a state issue and we will not do anything."
Honestly the only other thing the White House has the power to do is pardon someone, and so far Biden hasn't exercised that power yet.

President Biden has the power to pardon somebody convicted in FEDERAL court, not state court. This guy was convicted in STATE court in Colorado, so the pardon would have to come from the Governor of Colorado. FAT CHANCE OF THAT.

Where is the Change Dot Org petition we can all sign saying, "Ignore that other petition, this sentence was just fine!!!!!!"

 

With all of the juries awarding nuclear verdicts against trucking companies over the years, what was this guys lawyer thinking by leaving this case in the hands of the jury? Did he think they were going to be sympathetic for his client? no way with the videos and footage of his aftermath that that was ever going to happen.

 

Sounds like you're getting a dose of reality. All media is controlled by the same people. They all push the same narrative. It's just packaged a little differently. I haven't owned a TV in over 10 years. It would behoove you to toss the digital toilet in the trash where it belongs. They don't call television, "programming" for nothing.

They are literally controlling most of the entire population through TV, radio and print. All of it is ultimately controlled by just a few people who all share similar values and goals. Remove those shackles and free your mind. When I'm exposed to a TV now, like at someone's house or a waiting room I can see the agenda crystal clear. It's amazing and sickening at the same time.
