So, as I understand the entire situation....
He lied about his level of experience on his application...
He did not have the DOT required understanding of written English to understand his road signs...
He did not have the DOT required level of Basic English to be able to communicate with First Responders...
Which by default means he either-
Cheated on his CDL exam
Or
Took the Texas CDL that allows Spanish testing for Intrastate only work which means that he was not allowed to drive a commercial vehicle outside of Texas.
He picked up a load that he knew was at the top of the weight class for that vehicle.
He knew that the trailer had faulty brakes upon pick up.
He knowingly drove a heavy weight load on a vehicle with faulty breaks.
He passed a lighted speed warning device. (Which means, if he understood English - or anything about truck driving at all, then he was aware that he was going to fast for the road)
He passed not one but two runaway vehicle ramps that would have stopped him cold.
He did not aim for an embankment that would have lessened the loss of life, he purposely aimed for the cars stopped in traffic.
He killed 4 people and permanently disabled 2 more, destroying 6 families in total.
He had knowledge that his vehicle was faulty before he ever hit that downgrade.
He either did not do or ignored the results of his brake check.
He either did not do or ignored the results of his pre-trip
He had ample time and opportunity to stop this mess before it ever started.
Reporting the trailer to company or DOT to get needed and mandatory repairs.
Or using the runaway truck ramps.
This was not a "mistake" this was a series of decisions that can only be described as gross negligence and total disregard for human life and public safety.
His sentence is for multiple, let me say that again, MULTIPLE FELONY SAFTEY VIOLATIONS.
He got off light, the people he murdered did not.
He got what he deserved, so no, I will not sign a petition to beg for leniency and I will not boycott Colorado.
But I will say whoever passed him for a CDL and whoever hired him to drive should be held EQUALLY accountable!!!"Sirscrapntruckalot, wore out, COBB2070 and 4 others Thank this. -
@1:51 you can see how wreckless he was..

Comparatively speaking, in Nebraska in 2019 was this guy who Killed 3 People AND he was speeding:
Truck driver in fiery pileup crash that killed three in Nebraska sentenced to three to five years
A California-based truck driver has been sentenced to prison for a 2019 crash that killed three people in Nebraska.
On Wednesday, December 15, 36 year old truck driver Kenneth Kratt from Madera, California, was sentenced to to three to five years in prison in Buffalo County District Court.
Nebraska State Police said that Kratt was traveling at speeds of 75 to 78 m.p.h. in a 65 m.p.h. zone when the crash occurred.
According to the Kearny Hub, Kratt faced up to 20 years on each felony manslaughter charge, which could have resulted in a 60 year sentence if the charges ran consecutively instead of concurrently. Prosecutors requested the maximum sentence.

I really hope all these people who have such compassion for this killer can forgive the young immigrant who doesn’t speak functional English when he causes some damage to your property.

Who would’ve thought that truck drivers would actually feel strongly enough to ORGANIZE for this?
I don’t think anyone from the state on down saw this coming! -
