Are they still paying less than a dollar a mile plus fsc?Speed_Drums Thanks this.
-
Thank you. And yes, first truck. So far, so good. I’ll try and keep this thread updated as I go along. Try to give a better idea to those curious about the owner op sideRocks, Speed_Drums and xlsdraw Thank this.

1.20 mile weekly, plus a 100% fuel surcharge that’s paid every two weeks. Plus a 4 cent bonus at the end of every month should you hit 12000 miles. Paid tolls, no trailer rental fees, no Qualcomm fee.
I know it’s not great. The pay is pretty far south from what I have the potential to make somewhere else. But, this is my first time owning a truck. It’s paid for. I live cheap with not a lot of debt, so I make it work.
I’m giving it a year to see how I do. If I’m satisfied, I’ll stay. If not, I can always take this truck somewhere else. I’ve got other companies on my radar.Stonehjl, Rocks, Speed_Drums and 2 others Thank this. -
What truck did you get?
-
It’s nothing special, or anything close to what I want, but it’s a start. Just a 2017 Freightliner Cascadia. Auto since it’s an old Prime truck. Lots of new parts, too. (Brand new radiator, new airlines, new belts and hoses, etc.) Tires are 8 months old. Governed at 75. Just a hair over 700k miles as of when I got home last Saturday.
Bought it off a good friend of mine at Prime. Got it a lot cheaper than I should have, but that’s just the kind of guy he is. Threw me a bone with the price so I could get started without going into debt.Stonehjl, drvrtech77, Rocks and 1 other person Thank this. -
Safe travels and a merry christmas for you and your family!Rocks and WilliamReynolds1997 Thank this.

@Rocks have you made your decision yet on where you are going to go? Still thinking about Danny Herman or looking elsewhere?Speed_Drums and Rocks Thank this.
-
I made a decision, sent an application n it was accepted... but too early to say anything about it.
I was tired of searching... the more I searched, the more I realized there was nothing that I really wanted...
And being out of the road for over 2 yrs, will need training almost anywhere I go.
I did find a few companies that wouldn't require training, but they lacked in a lot of things that were indispensable for me.
You were looking for an OTR company, right? Have you found it yet?Speed_Drums Thanks this. -
You’ll have to excuse me, but I haven’t been following this thread very closely as of late. Was this application for Danny Herman?Rocks Thanks this.
