I'm was of the same mindset. I guess one could just replace the heaters after so many years before they go bad.
My mechanic told me a story from 40 years ago about a truck they had that used coolant and they couldn't figure out where it was going until the truck quit running. It had fuel tank heaters.

Thats about what I would tell you. They all leak in time. If you not in the artic, I dont see the need. And fuel had come along way in 40 or 20 years.singlescrewshaker, cke, Brettj3876 and 13 others Thank this. -
The only other thing about that is now you have to run like 1/2 mile of heater line criss-crossimg your truck and that doesn't appeal to me much either. Just seems like alot of opportunity for failure. Sounds good on paper though.Flint1, singlescrewshaker, cke and 7 others Thank this.

Sounds like a quad axle trailer is in your future.

Honestly don't know. Everything is so Topsy turvy right now, that I don't know if I'm coming or going right now. I want to move because it makes really good sense on paper. However, I like very much where I live and it makes sense to stay here in light of the current political climate. I don't stay here enough to pull a dedicated 4 axle. The freight rates here suck. Which is why I goto the Midwest. Not going to make any decisions until spring. Plus with the current cost and wait of equipment, I really dred specing a new trailer.
Edit: plus I no longer have the drop axle under my truck.Flint1, Lostkeys, singlescrewshaker and 8 others Thank this. -
