I'm was of the same mindset. I guess one could just replace the heaters after so many years before they go bad.
My mechanic told me a story from 40 years ago about a truck they had that used coolant and they couldn't figure out where it was going until the truck quit running. It had fuel tank heaters.

Thats about what I would tell you. They all leak in time. If you not in the artic, I dont see the need. And fuel had come along way in 40 or 20 years.

The only other thing about that is now you have to run like 1/2 mile of heater line criss-crossimg your truck and that doesn't appeal to me much either. Just seems like alot of opportunity for failure. Sounds good on paper though.

With any luck we dropped our last load of the year yesterday. We're at the grandkids until it's time not to be.

Now to try to figure out how to go Christmas shopping... without Mrs. Crusher.

Honestly don't know. Everything is so Topsy turvy right now, that I don't know if I'm coming or going right now. I want to move because it makes really good sense on paper. However, I like very much where I live and it makes sense to stay here in light of the current political climate. I don't stay here enough to pull a dedicated 4 axle. The freight rates here suck. Which is why I goto the Midwest. Not going to make any decisions until spring. Plus with the current cost and wait of equipment, I really dred specing a new trailer.

Edit: plus I no longer have the drop axle under my truck.
