So if you want a mid-trip inspection, why not require a quarterly-trip inspection as well?
Why not hourly?
And, by the way...
We do not 'take' an inspection, we 'do' an inspection.
Pre and post should be enough to make a formal report on.

How much does the inspection pay the driver? Oh nothing? Well there are a lot of mysteries in life like how Santa manages to deliver all those presents. This isn't one of them.

That mid-trip is a lot like something Swift did several years back.
They wanted us to send a freeform message on the Qualcom every time we GOAL, as we were doing it.
Talk about wasting a lot of time and effort for everyone around. -
Would you happen to be some sort of dispatching service?

####. That was obviously thought of by someone who wouldn’t even know how to get a truck in gear.Opendeckin and Moosetek13 Thank this.

A mid trip inspection in this context is basically like having a shop or third party perform an inspection on all of the systems of the truck or trailer, and includes basically everything that can be touched by a TA shop. Tread depth, tire pressure, lights, brakes, linings, lube, coolant and oil levels, pressure levels of oil etc. it’s just an inspection like a yearly inspection except it’s does between PM.
I own my truck and trailer and lease with a company that requires them at 12,500 miles and requires PM to be done at 25,000 miles. Basically an inspection above and beyond the PM. Given it’s my equipment, it’s at my expense. For the most part it’s a waste of time, but every now and then it catches something that I missed before a blitz that would have been expensive to impossible to fix on the side of the road or at a scale house; probably requiring being towed out of service to a shop.
I really only mind it for the downtime. The expense is negligible. A good fast shop full of people who actually want to work will have it done in under an hour and I do mine while I’m logging sleeper berth lol.
stopping in the middle of the day would be some ######## though. -
“Thanks for being safe”
used to #### with them by sending them like 12 of them back to back to back, go take a dump and then send them a few more. Glad to not be there anymore lol
