If you’re doing 87 mph I hope you’re at least pulling Super-B’s and up to at least 140,000. If there’s going to be a catastrophic event you might as well go big.

Company drivers shouldn’t be going 87 mph owner ops pay the fuel and repairs so it’s up to them I suppose.

Around here the Paccar dealers will only set the speed limit to what the tires are rated for.
The majority of the roads here in Louisiana are so bad going faster than 30 mph your truck falls apart.Speed_Drums, Magoo1968 and wingnut105 Thank this. -
Unless something has changed that I'm not aware of, this has nothing to do with the warranty. Dealers set the speed rating (or don't) based on the company specs. If a company wants the governor set to 65 that is where it's set. If they don't have any preference we don't set it.
It sounds to me that your company wants you to drive slower, they're just not telling you that.
Edit: It's also possible that the tires the vehicle are spec'd with simply can't handle above 75 mph, which is why that is the limit.wingnut105 and 062 Thank this. -

I have a boss who pays me a percentage(22+) of the entire load pay, including tolls and fuel surcharge, so don’t worry about what I should/shouldn’t be doing. If you want to run hard & fast, pick better companies who run better equipment and dedicated lanes. 80, 90 & 40 are great open roads with lots of posted limits of 80mph. I asked a technical question, not a subjective one. Judge the man in your mirror. -

Just don't hit 88mph. Because when this baby hits 88mph, you're gonna see some serious ####. Don't believe me? Watch a clip from this documentary.
Magoo1968 Thanks this.
