The Engine and Aftertreatment, Absolutely. The Chassis, it depends how much you can handle on your own, how much the Challenger shop will help you, or if you have any independent shops to work with you. IE I have Engine/Aftertreatment/trans/diff's extended warranty. They have paid out about $32 000 in warranty repairs to my $10 000 warranty price. I do not have chassis extended warranty, and have paid about 2-3K in parts/repairs after the basic warranty was over, VS the additional $12K warranty they wanted. The plus side also, I didn't have to deal with the dealership, for things that could be handed third party, with quality aftermarket parts, (which with Volvo's are superior quality) and usually ALOT quicker and easier.
However, this is the first year of a new re-design for KW, so there could be a lot of problems (that new digital dash, the new driver aids) that could have issues after the basic, which could be 15-30K in repairs pretty quick.
If you plan to keep the truck long term, the big warranty is prob worth it.
My truck is coming, any suggestions for the first company to start with?

Thanks bro, what u put here could help someone like me a big time!!
-
Wow that's crazy that a truck cost upwards of $200,000 now and you need to spend another $18,000 on warranty They sure don't make then like they used to. A friend of mine used to buy all his trucks without even the factory warranty .You'd be surprised at how much cheaper trucks can be bought without any warranty.Phantom Trucker Thanks this.

Thanks for your reply, really appreciated.

Things are more difficult now days I guess. I heard the rates aren't changed much from the early days.

$80,000 in 1985 is equal to $203,998 today according to the consumer price index inflation calculator.
-
Do u really believe in that prince index thing? thinking about the housing price back in 85, thinking about the car prices back in 85, thinking about the grocery cost back in 85. Or, just just thinking everything back in 15 years ago, which is the time I came to Canada. We have to deal with the reality, but not the numbers they offered in my opinion.

Sorry, I wasn't complaining about the truck prices, just the rates I heard from some of the senior drivers from 90s and early 2000sdchawk81 Thanks this.

It's generally fairly accurate.

10-4. It's all good just saying calling 80 grand cheap for a semi in 1985 is misleading.
Salaries were also comparatively lower back then.
