Lol I've done nothing but local and a tiny bit of regional. I love it, except when it gets robotic.

I couldn't do line haul. It would bore me to tears like 600 miles a day would.

Although sometimes I do consider booking an OTR load and getting hotels every now and then.

Good for you; you're doing the type of trucking you like.
What riles me though is the drivers that bash OTR drivers and especially reefer drivers doing long haul. Just because they don't like it, or can't hack it, doesn't mean those of us that do prefer it are wrong. The job has to be done, so thankfully, there's plenty of us that prefer it.

I won't knock any segment of it.

I did a little bit of reefer for Walmart via Schneider. Just local DC to store stuff but still. It was interesting.

My dad ran OTR and he hated local when he was tasked with it.

I love pulling reefers with lots of night driving. Dim lights inside the cab, hot thermos of coffee, good music on the radio.
Florida to California to Texas to North Carolina to Washington State to Pennsylvania to New Mexico, etc. and on and on.
Some of us love that style.

    I can see that.

My local is sometimes a couple hundred miles so I do get that cozy gist at times. I like that part. Lol.

I'd probably be more interested in OTR with a larger truck. Most of my stuff has been short mega fleet company day cabs. They don't ride or handle that great.

My personal truck is a day cab, a little longer for a day cab therefore better than the mega fleet company stuff but still not exactly butter where you want to run 300-400 at a clip.

Refrigerated trucking can have tight schedules and wee hour deliveries. Trip planning is important to do night driving, plus make the tight schedules. I like the stress of it and it's a good fit for me. I'm one of those odd people that only need 5 or 6 hours of sleep in 24 hours.

I drive a day cab too. It rides pretty comfortable and a good stereo. Company has no problems paying for hotels. I said as long as they pay for hotels I will run coast to coast! Comfortable bed, shower, Tv and a free breakfast!!!
    Winning!

Years ago I had a local job due to family situation. Just for a short period of time.
