If you do any work for compensation, ANY WORK, it counts against your 70 Hour clock. The HOS are aimed at preventing fatigued drivers on public roads.

 

When you are on trial for killing someone the state has unlimited resources to investigate you. Besides you and your employers are reporting yourselves to the IRS.

 

Are you confident your explanation will convince a jury? It's your freedom on the line. Your employers are seen as big bags of money by the attorneys & juries.

I’m well aware of the 1099 thresholds. Never liked how they lowered it. This would’ve been back in like 2019 when I did Uber/Lyft.

 

Can’t he just work on a 60 hr 7 day logbook schedule? 25 hrs on the weekend. As long as he has 10 hrs off between Friday evening and Saturday morning? And ofcourse 10 hrs off sat night, before working Sunday morning. Keeping a total of 60 hrs between both jobs. Never running out of hours available for every weekend. Like his original post 60-35= 25 available for the weekend.

 

No. If the carrier works 7 days a week they must use the 70/8 clock. It's only the carriers that don't work 7 days that get the choice.

 

Ok let’s see if I’m right. I’m curious myself. I figure he could work 28 hrs. the first weekend , then 21 hrs for 2 weekends. 28 for one again, then 21 for 2, 28 for 1, 21 for 2, 28 for 1 Etc. Just trying to simplify,
