I wasn't taught the trolley valve part but the stabbing was part of my training about 6 years ago.
I learned from an owner operator though, not a mega fleet school.
What are your thoughts on automatic vs manual transmissions?

Here’s my method for descending in an automated transmission (DT12)
*slow down to 5-10 mph less than the truck speed limit before you start descending
*put the transmission in a gear that’ll keep the rpm around 1800-2000 and then engage the jake brake in stage 2 or 3
*or just put the jakes in stage 3 and it’ll usually rev the engine to high enough rpm’s
*let the jake brake do it’s thing and you’ll rarely if ever have to hit the brakes
that’s what works for me. Sometimes leaving it on level 3 is too much so I’ll alternate between level 2 and 3. Sometimes I’ll end up going slower than I’d like but I’d rather go to slow than too fast.kuzima93, peterd and MidWest_MacDaddy Thank this. -

- "When reflecting back over the intent of the founders of this long successful entity, it seems the fiscal duty of the officers is to maximize profit for those with a financial stake in the organization, for they are the ones with the most to lose or gain." instead of "We're going to stay focused on maximizing profit."
