What exactly should I be empathetic to?

Did he pilot a truck into a bunch of stopped cars? Yes or no answer. Did his actions cause ANYONE to die on the highway? Yes or no answer again.

Perfect justice would have been for him to die on that very same stretch of highway that very day.

“But Six, it was an accident! BLEED!”

An accident would be something breaking on the steering or the driver losing consciousness. Did either of those things happen? If they did, then I would be empathetic.

I think the fact you’re calling for lynch mobs to dole out summary executions is all I really need to know about you.

I think Triple six is right. It’s not a lynch mob, the POS killed 4 people. He is supposed to be a professional driver. The idiot then tried to run back home to Cuba. For the 4 people he killed, then I’ll tie the rope. You have no feelings for the families he destroyed. You don’t say one word of how they are hurt.

So any CDL holder that kills someone in an accident is not a "professional driver?"

I'm sorry, INTENT is what matters here. No matter how stupid the guy was, how bad he did, he did not wake up that morning and say "I'm going to ram my rig into a bunch of stopped cars today and kill as many people as I can" but his sentence acted like he did just that.

He had a mechanical failure. No matter how mad you are that people got killed, that he didn't take an emergency ramp, that he was out of the state he was supposed to be driving in (if that's indeed true) it still happened BECAUSE OF A MECHANICAL FAILURE.

I think 10 years is more than enough time for him to think about how bad he performed in that situation. But people have shot people dead and got out in 20. You don't sentence people based on revenge. I mean how do you revenge an accident? He wasn't drunk, he wasn't impaired, he had the proper license to drive the rig he was driving. Had his brakes worked properly this wouldn't have happened. That means its pure mechanical failure. Sentence the truck to life in prison without parole, but not the driver.

And for those of you saying that this guy is guilty of murder, you're a bunch of morons. Read the definition of murder before you speak.

were supposed to be professional drivers! He’s the captain of his ship. Once he exceeded his speed, he had the time to use the ramps or ditch. He panicked and killed people. Brake failure due to riding his brakes, they got hot! The moron had no training in mountain territory. You to, have no feelings for the families he destroyed. You just want him to go back home to where he came from. That’s right, run back home.

All of that may be true, as I said already. But that still doesn't justify a sentence 5 times what someone would get for first degree murder. Sentences aren't based on feelings. They are based on actions and on intent. His actions sucked, his intent was innocent. He had no intention of killing anyone and that changes the whole dynamic.

I have a ton of sympathy for the families, but that doesn't change that this is an accident. And for the record, even the families of the victims were saying 110 years was too much. I definitely don't think he should walk scott free or ever drive a truck again, but the kid was 23 years old, he shouldn't be in prison for the rest of his life because he mishandled a mechanical failure.

he should do 20 years, and deported when he gets out. Banned from the USA. He could have swerved and put it in a ditch, but heck no, he didn’t want to get hurt.

    Ok. Cool.

He also was not doing anything negligent at the time. He was not speeding, he was not texting and driving, nothing. That plays a huge part in this too.
