Had a buddy lose his job after providing his own dashcam footage to his employer re an incident at a client facility. The relevant footage cleared him of any wrongdoing but instead of just clipping/editing the :30sec of video needed he just walked in the office and gave them the entire file (about 1.5 hours).
Two weeks later safety at his terminal or maybe corporate decided to just sit down and take a look at the entire file and caught him (via audio) talking on his headset twice with dispatch (while enroute to his offload) who knew he was driving based on the convo they were having.
So better make sure you know what’s on that video before sending it on to your company rep or perhaps your insurance provider. i literally went out today and bought a card reader adapter to use with my iphone to use iMovie to break down my files if need be. Before I had to use the cameras wifi function and it took forever!
Oh yeah, and the dispatcher was bumped back to an administrative post for not reporting him.

What’s wrong with talking to dispatch on a head set? Isn’t that how it’s supposed to be? What am I missing here?

1.5 hour files? Mine are a minute each.

What's not to understand? Cleary, this driver is a threat to Western Civilization by talking on his head set.

    110 years? Try 220. ;)

Who talks to dispatch? That in and of itself is absurd.

Many companies (pushed by insurance) have a 0 strikes policy on talking while driving regardless of headset or no

    Yep.

He was driving. About an hour before he got to facility he called in whilst driving in the area to confirm the correct gate/entrance. In the video you can hear him talking to dispatch while seeing him navigating to the place.

If his camera is like mine you can choose to record longer segments at a lower resolution and not on loop. I can record hour segments at 720 for 12 hours and then I have to reset the card. Not sure what camera he has. I stopped doing 15-30 loops after i had an issue of not being able to pull off the intestate in enough time to download a guy brake checking me.

That seems kind of silly. I thought that was the whole point of a head set was hands free. So, if you need directions your supposed to go find parking and then call dispatch? lol

If you still can’t find it you go find parking again and call dispatch back?

Makes sense. Mine is 1 minute regardless of settings but I waiver between 4k 30fps and 2160k 60fps. The former is sharper overall, the latter lets you pause for a crisper image more often.

    Pamela1990 and TheIncredibleBulk Thank this.
