The coolant way is the only way. The electric doesn't produce enough heat to make a difference.
-
Would you also add artic fuel heater to tanks as well? I've been told those are coolant heated as well? Don't know for sure.?
-
Use them twenty years ago but fuel has gotten much better now and find no need. The thing we do is use 25 micron fuel filters haven't had problems in years running upper Midwest. Just coolant heated davco, power service and 25 micron fuel filters. We don't shut trucks off any time it below zero temps.
Hammer166, BoxCarKidd and ibcalm19 Thank this. -
Copy that. Thanks

Stay away from fuel heaters in your tanks. When (not if) they develop leaks you will be putting coolant into your fuel and the first you know you have a problem is when your injectors go bad. I also object to coolant heated Davco filters for the same reason.
You can buy a couple years of fuel treatment for the price of a set of injectors. It takes maybe a few minutes per month to buy the fuel treatment and add it with every fuel-up for the 4 months it is necessary. -
I'm gonna assume you tie into the coolant lines that go to the air compressor? -
There is NO way coolant can get into the fuel from a Davco filter. The whole casting would have to fail. Have seen these filters froze solid without a failure.
-
I guess you can. I ran coolant line to both of mine usually there are plugs around the thermostat housing for the supply. Run the return to the bottom pipe of the radiator. Could also follow the heater hoses and see if there is any plugs you could take out and run new lines.

I have seen 1 Davco that had a pinhole in the casting that opened up 2 years after installation. He finally tracked it down after pulling the head and magna-fluxing it to find why his injectors showed coolant damage.
