The only Tuner that can touch it is the stealership. Otherwise, if anyone else touches it, chances are extremely high that it will VOID the warranty.

Thanks. I was referring to @Long FLD s comment regarding his new 2022. A person pays $2xx,xxx for a new truck and is not allowed to reset engine parameters as seen fit.

He is just asking to change the max speed, not change the engine hp. No warranty issue, just take it to the dealer and done.

You can set them however you want when you order the truck, I haven’t talked to anyone that has a phase 2 engine because I don’t know anyone personally that’s tried to change parameters. All I know is what I was told in April when I ordered mine. At that time they weren’t sure what all they would be able to access once it leaves the factory. So we made sure to set things like max speed and the limit on the idle timer just in case.

I imagine it will keep getting harder and harder because people find someone on social media and they toss a junk tune in an engine and when the have problems they put the stock tune back in and go whine about warranty. Take Paccar for example, notice how most things available for them are good up to model year 2015? They made a bunch of changes to the engine for model year 2016 and updated their software to go with it. You don’t see much of anything available for 2016 and on. I imagine now with phase 2 going into effect on model year 2022 it would be even harder to get into the computer.

Bought my T880 on auction from a fuel company, same situation but without the password the dealer couldn’t do anything. May want to get a post-it note beforehand but you’ll get a lot less tickets at 70 mph rather than 70+

Last time I talked to my local CAT house they told me dealer only. Even if that's changed, I still think charging yearly is a scam too.

I think that's a wise decision if you're willing to be very hands on. You'll be in complete control instead of greedy corporations and tyrannical governments holding you back.
