    From the time I first met my wife in 1971, every meal I had at any of her family homes always had a bowl with a fresh onion cut up on the table. Every one ate some with every meal. Really seem to help the women in her family as her great grandma and grandma all lived to near 100. My wife carries this on today and she says this is why we don't get sick. No colds, no flu and no beer flu. Neither one of us has been sick in years. Last time for me was a little bug in 2012. We eat lots of onions and she puts garlic in about everything.

    Similar. I lived at home and mother provided plenty onion content. I never had a cold. Graduated; to work, lived away and on road. Got to having colds.
    Married; told her we would have onions, she agreed, no more colds.
    Also. The burnt cornbread made my hair curly. Burnt cornbread curls play great with the women. 86, hair still thick and curly.

    I swabbed that comment with a square of sarcasm-sensitive paper, which turns from beige to brown in the presence of sarcasm.
