This is what I’ve been doing for years. Adobe fill and sign. Email it to them from the app and CC myself so I have a copy. I can’t see how this new online form submission is progress in the right direction. I ask the compliance department how I can keep a running log of my maintenance in the online form and submit it when the time comes to turn it in. You can’t!!! You have to copy and paste from another form into the online form for every field.
Imagine this: open the app (form with your records), copy data, close app, open web page with the online form, paste data into online form, close web page, open app, and repeat for every single field on the form.
I’m not stuck in 1976. I have written plenty of front and back end code for websites before I started trucking. This is using technology for a purpose it was not intended.
docusign is for signing, submitting, storing, and transmitting contracts for the parties involved.
If they add functionality to store the data of each BCO’s maintenance report in the form for later retrieval and updating and then allow for a submission when everything is complete, it would be a good move.
In its current form, it is technology that requires humans to do more work than would be required without it. That’s not progress.
They accepted my maintenance report that I’ve been submitting for years through Adobe Fill and Sign for my current report. Hopefully they will continue to allow it. I don’t see why they wouldn’t if it has all of the info required by the regs.
If they add the ability to store a running maintenance record, and submit it after the 120 days on the docusign version, I think that would be good too. Still more work than using the AFaS app, but I could see some benefits to landstar without costing BCO’s too much additional time of doing the $10/hr work.

You are correct and I am happy you explained it to corporate maybe it will be updated.

Awesome! Glad they updated it. Thanks for letting us know too.

I just tried to add an entry to a maintenance report on docusign. It’s only option it gives me it to “finish” after signing the document. I clicked next without signing and it just auto-scrolls to the finish button. I went through the process with one entry and it gave me the option to save it, but just to for my records, not to save it in their cloud system to access it later and add more entries to it. After saving it (to my files), I closed everything and logged back in again just to see what showed up and it just has another blank maintenance report for with no entries on it.
If anyone has this figured out, please let us know. I clicked the hamburger icon in the top left as well, but didn’t see any options for saving progress to finalize later. -
Another reason Landstar is the best. Actually two.
1) They left off part of my address for one of the trucks e logs, so another day wasted and several hours to get UPS the correct info. I have nothing better to do though, so it's ok.
2) Got a bill for a toll in Florida. Except it's not my truck. Lady in compliance seemed very angry. I'm pretty sure it's Blair's truck. So sent that to roadside and compliance after being scolded by the lady in compliance for calling and bothering her. Again, fortunately I have nothing better to do.Blu_Ogre, BennysPennys and dwells40 Thank this. -
After I blew up the engine in the first truck I had on with landstar, I sent them the plates back because I wasn’t interested in rebuilding a DD15 and didn’t know how long it would take for me to find another truck. Fast forward a couple months and I started getting toll bills from that plate from my old truck. They re-sold it to another BCO but somehow it was still attached to me in someone’s system. It took no less than 15 calls back and forth with permits (at the time I think they were handling tags/plates) and the Texas toll authority people to get it all straightened out. I think it ended up being the Tx tag system that needed to be updated, but it was super difficult to get landstar to vouch for me because they didn’t want to disclose which BCO they sold the plates to for privacy reasons. They would confirm they did re-sell them, but wouldn’t tell TxTag who to send the toll bills to.dwells40 Thanks this.

The shill on Landstar's FB page said Landstar will pull your lease if you take part in The Freedom Convoy to stand against tyranny and oppression.
-
You planning on leaving them over it?
Also. How can they legally do that? Is there an "at will" clause? -
It is not an employment contract.
They operate under a Private contract between Landstar and the equipment owner. And it specifically mentions that either party can end the contract at any time for any reason.gentleroger, dwells40 and Wasted Thyme Thank this.
