Perhaps though i do remimber reading that our production is high but we buy a sizeable portion of the raw product from canada actully though it may have chanced since i read it. However, if you follow the supply chain a rather alarming percentage the machines come exclussivly from china and we do still import a staggering amount from overseas even with our own production. But regardless a war with china is a war we may win but it would be a pyrrhic victory at best and would leave us wide open to other enemys who would LOVE to take advantage of a crippled america.

I like that line of thinking.
To the contrary of all the malcontents and defeatists belief, the US navy and Air force is still unparalleled...it would take indeed China, Russia, and the rest of the world combined to match it.
As far as manufacturing base...it would be reformulated and rebuilt quickly, if there is will and need.
Look how Soviets sped up, and expanded their manufacturing base in the 1942 - 45 while faced with the Nazis aggression.

I think if an all-out legit ww3 offensive war started, some major cities would be nuked/wiped off the earth within 1 month- and poop would hit the fan.
It would be very very bad and no one would win in the end.

That's why a major war between nuclear powers hasn't happened yet..

If we ever get there.. better be close to your loved ones. God Help Us All.

True to a point but we also didnt have the same levels of relying on tech we do today and not nearly the same level of vulnerability to a nuke we have today and in particular the EMPs that result. A handful of airbursts could knock out a vast swath of pretty much everything. Additionally the machines needed to build back a lot of that tech are very complex now. In the 40s and 50s most of our tech was mechanical and by comparison pretty simple. Nowadays its digital and electronic. And thats before even considering basic services and utilitys.

How many would die if say china hit us with an EMP in the winter because our exposed and unshielded utilitys were destroyed? How many people do you know that could survive days or weeks without heat or know how to chop wood or god forbid fix one of these digital computer packed nightmares of an engine we use nowadays? A lot of our tech is so computerized its nearly imposible for someone to work on. Look at current emissions engines as a case in point.

Adding on to that a LOT of americans in the 30s and 40s were a lot more "hardy" then your current americans. Keep in mind a guy like this
    aJ9W4eXEmisQ1qfJEV4N-Zqz2z55A-NWI3w-HBFVCwY.jpg
Back then was considered a freak. Nowadays i would consider him only slightly above average and wouldnt look twice if i saw him pass me in a market. This type of person would be unlikely to survive long without AC, medical care, or many modern devices.

Would we recover? Sure but unlike post war germany or russia or japan it would be HIGHLY unlikely we would see a helpful "america" to help finance rebuilding. Would we actully win a war? Most likely yes. Would it cost us dearly? Also yes.

Being honest about how devastating a war would be is not in my opinion being a malcontent or defeatist. Its being realistic. This is not the 40s anymore, you wont see massed troops storming normandy, you will see a nuke dropped on it or it bypassed entirely by a few hundred ICBMs followed up by F35s.

A hot war with any of the other nuculear armed states would be a bloodbath and set us back at least a hundred years if not more. And honestly i wish more americans WOULD acknowledge that because then we could address it and make it #### hard to actully take us fully out of the game.

That’s why we need our manufacturing base. Who are we going to buy weapons from? China? Russia? Our factories were converted so fast, and we produced so many weapons. It’s amazing. My Grandma worked at Hudson Motor Car. During the war She built Airplanes. The amount of weapons produced by the U.S. in such a short time, along with the Dams needed for electricity being built in record time, to make aluminum, is what really won the war for the allies. The story of the powering of the Alcoa plant in Tennessee, along with Oak Ridge arsenal. The Tank plant near Me. All of it’s still in place. The Tank technology is awesome. I have a niece who designed the interior control panels for them. Her and her Husband work for a Company that primarily designs Tanks. Right next door to the Detroit Weapons Arsenal, and the Tank Plant. 6 Tanks out front on display. The fact is, We have thousands times the firepower deployed all around the World, compared to any other Super Powers. Not to mention the best missle defense systems. That’s what keeps Us safe. We have to keep it in place. When you’re #1 you’re the #1 Target. After bombing Japan, there’s no turning back. We are still the only ones in history to do such a horrific thing to a Country.

I suspect that we are in a war now. Look at those mandates, curfews, restricftion, inflation all over the world... The unrestricted warfare the communists are winning.

I can't fathom a full fledged conventional war known from WW1 or WW2 nor nuclear war. So what we say here is highly hypothetical. I am sure that for any nuke aimed here there are two aimed at places like Moscow, St. Petersburg and Bejing too. Pretty much impass situation. If we go down, so do they...
There could be some military involvements as we saw before in the Middle East or Asia but those could hardly affect the life at home - not to offend those who took part in them and their families.
On the other hand, there's too much delight in Russia and China military too. No way, they have anything better or more to show.
American boys might have become a little chunky lately but still a great deal of them know how to shoot like nowhere else in the World and, more importantly, do have something to shoot with.
Don't you worry, no Chineese nor Russian marine landing stands a chance on neither of the coasts, even against us, the civilians.
We can give them a fight.

I think we have a misunderstanding between us here. Im not worried about loseing a war. Ive even said multiple times we would likely win barring something like china having a secret UFO death ray of doom we somehow missed. Im worried about the aftermath of 2 nuclear powers going at it. We may have the best missle defense in the world but it only takes a handful getting through to do some serious damage. Keep in mind what we dropped on japan is a firecracker compared to what we have now and same for our enemys not to mention how fragile a lot of our tech is now. And most of our enemys have thousands. All it takes is even 1% to get through to do a lot of lasting damage. But anyway this is my view on things and your right this is all theory. Who knows how a modern hot war would hash out. Will it be fallout? Will it be middle east 2.0? Who knows but regardless i dont have high hopes if nukes start flying especially with our current.....seat warmer.

Russia invaded Poland, Czechoslovakia, Hungary, Finland, Japan, Afghanistan. None of those EVER were part of the USSR.
China has invaded India a few times in the last 20 years killing dozens of Indian Army soldiers. These are usually infantry attacks 20-30 miles into India. China invaded Vietnam in 1979-ish
