Why not go to a state employment agency for funding? Most state agencies are getting money from the Fed for just such people. I'm 53 and got immediate funding for a driving school, almost $5K worth. Good school too, 210 hrs. Now if I can just get hired somewhere...pity...W-S offered me a 10 day training but I have to relocate from TX to within their hiring area. Werner shot me down because of a misdemeaner 30 years ago! Guess its true about them being jerks...right now waiting for word from Swift, KLLM and PAM...

HaHa....yea right...I just hope there's room in the rig for my snow skiis and clubs...then I'll be all set! But so many chairlifts and golf courses with so little time...I hope there's drops in those out of the way resorts so I can expand my experiences beyond the places next to the big roads.

I don't see your point oneshot...just being there is good enough. Five hours is all I need for my activities...before or after the drop. My previous careers in Hospitality and Marketing have more than prepared me for any behavioral antics I may encounter from dock workers or the average customers. Really....it should be mandatory for everyone's first job to be in a restaurant...would improve service relations between clients and drivers everywhere....but there are those who couldn't handle that work...

I can agree with you about working in the service industry. I don't think I could work in a restaurant myself, but I have put in some time in the parking lot as a valet. If I didn't like driving a truck and being out on the open road I'd still be in that parking lot--I made the same money I do now, but in cash every day, and I only worked about 25 hours a week. Of course, those 25 hours were at night, in all kinds of weather. Being a truck driver means putting up with all kinds of BS, but I prefer this BS to the kind I used to get as a valet.
