Forgive my ignorance, ive watched a bunch of trucking videos but i know its not an accurate representation of what I may go through. Considering ill have no experience at all, is the mega carrier route my only option in the beginning? im 25 yrs old & have a clean driving record, no accidents/tickets for the past 7 years of driving, No criminal record.
And supposedly there is a right & wrong way to get your CDL, something about not getting an automatic restriction on my CDL? does that affect me? not too sure. I dont mind either way, i understand the need to dip my toes in and get that experience under my belt, just curious if mega carriers are the only ones that will train a new person. Thank you
Looking to get CDL in California, mega carrier my only option?

Nothing wrong with getting a cdl through a mega carrier.
Where are you in California?dynarius909 and Kyle G. Thank this. -
If you can find training on a manual shift, do it. Mega or otherwise.
It will give you a few more options.
But more companies are going auto these days, so it is not really that big of a deal if you stay in those places.
The days of manual shift are gone, except for a few places.
And the right mega can be your friend.
They always have the loads, and you often have more control over how you run those loads.dynarius909, Western flyer, Kyle G. and 1 other person Thank this. -
