I have been always afraid to tell the story but I have also once had Pink elephants running alongside my truck on the PA. Turnpike. Yes I stopped to sleep not long after that.
Now I know I'm not alone.![]()
What is the Farthest you have run ???

I know it's not in a big truck, but on my move to Oregon from Florida, I drove straight through from Rock Springs to Astoria. I think it was about 990 miles. I would have had no problem except that I had my wife, two kids (under 4) and a dog in the truck with me. Wife refused to stop on the side of the road anywhere so it was me driving the whole way. We left Rock Springs about 10 am and we intended to stop and get a room in Ontario OR, but they didn't have any open. Stopped in Pendleton and same thing all were booked. By 6 am we were in Portland and decided to just drive the next 2 hours straight through to Astoria.
Here's a shot of the truck and trailer loaded up

Ran into one of my old buddies from my last company today. He reminded me of the time I ran with him and his wife they were a team I was a solo well we were both headed for Upper Malbourgh MD and we were in Yuma AZ getting loaded. Needless to say we both got there same time and he was the RESTED SOB. All I have to say is WTF was I thinking then.

Mine is not distance traveled, but time up. With the exception of last summer. Every summer for the last 9 years, was get to the shop # 5 am mon morning, run the screw on the paver or drive paver "if we actually had a decent driver or 3" otherwise haul asphault. Hopefully finish before 7 that night so I could get a few hrs rest on the couch in the shop before 9 when I had to be backed under the milling machine, haul till around 4. Then start all over again. Of course this was weather dependant but had to work 7 to 5 in the shop when it rained. Most time was 6 days a week, no life for me in the summer AT ALL! Would sleep most of the day on sun to try & catch up.
Wasn't bad running the paver during the day, least I could nap between trucks. But having to haul both day & night was the killer!
