Cloud, first of all -- Welcome!
Always glad to see a new face (name?) here. Regarding your question, there is an excellent school in Drumwright, OK called Central Tech. It is state funded so since you live in OK, you will get a lower rate than out of state students. I strongly urge you to check it out since they are well regarded throughout the industry and I have never heard one negative comment about them or their training. Also, the better companies for newbies hire out of their school, so you won't be limited to the bottom feeders who will hire anyone who is breathing. I don't have the link, but if you Google 'Central Tech Drumwright OK' you should be able to find them. As you will learn by reading the many posts on this board, driving a truck isn't easy, and it isn't a job -- it's a lifestyle. If you think that this is a lifestyle you could live with, then go for it. Many women are entering this field after their kids are grown and finding it to be very rewarding. But, don't go into it without learning as much as you can so that you will know what to expect and what pitfalls to watch out for. Best of luck to you and please keep us posted on your progress.

I am new to this as well. I drove truck for about 6-8 months. I also have two small children 10 and 5. Yes, I found it hard a times to be gone at a week at a time, but when I got home I knew I made the right decison. The big smile on my girls faces when I brought my truck home and had it in the driveway. I was in cloud(he he) nine. I new if I wanted my girls to have a nice life this was what I had to do. Everything I did was for them and I loved it.
