Thanks for all the replies and feedback.
I never planned to be passive or hands off, just not the only hands earning. I have a couple ideas that just need to be fine tuned and implemented. -
edgewaterflat.com edgewaterpc.com and edgewater tuckpoint as well as edgewater mulch and stone.com coming soon!
I also use my super mint 2001 Cherokee sport and plow to plow rich peoples driveways on Lake road near my house. I charge stupid money and they can take or leave it! I love my Jeep so I won't kill it for anything less than rich peoples big bucks.
That being said I always offer free shoveling to non rich seniors in my community.dwells40, Midwest Trucker, ProfessionalNoticer and 2 others Thank this. -
Usually it goes the other way around, you start a business then either buy trucks to move your own product or buy them for a write off to piss away money on so you don’t get slammed on taxes
ProfessionalNoticer and Caterpillar Cowboy Thank this. -
My cousin has a small business inspecting new houses for the lenders.
he buyers a new 4wd Crewcab whenever his accountant tells him he either can buy a fancy new pickup , and pay the GMC dealership or he can write a check to the IRS for nearly the same amount . -
Another way is to buy a business from someone who retires. And then go from there. But it helps to know what you're getting into.

Using trucking as the vehicle to go full time trading stocks/options. Nothing, and I mean nothing beats becoming consistent in the market. 95% of people only understand making money when the markets going up. I can go on forever about why becoming fluent in the market will beat ANY business idea in terms of ROI, time money ratio.
Trucking was used to put my wife through four years of school. This year we’ll have a fully running birth business. She’s a midwife. 100k net working 1-3 days a week, after all tax and expense.
long term plan is trade the market forever, buy 5-10 high end AirBnB properties, run a beautiful birth center. A few more things down the line, but not relevant at this stage.
I want to be 2m cash flow pos / year by 40. 28 yrs old now.
trucking just isn’t worth it long term imo. Especially as a single truck O/O. But it is the perfect avenue for someone young, single, and childless to stack up cash and have hard capital to attempt a few businesses.
financial freedom is what gives you time, and 95% of people want the time in the end. In today’s time, you don’t need to start businesses like the old times. The majority of business that make people millionaires are online, stock market, YouTube, subscriber based monthly, etc.
just rambling here, in the end hopefully you’ll have figured something out, the whole goal is to stack it quick and young so you can enjoy your family until you die.Last edited: Feb 23, 2022
