I sent an email to both the Palm Bay store, and Wal Mart Headquarters, telling them how grossly unfair I felt Mr.Baumans firing is....for all the good it will do.

Its getting as bad as England.
Maybe the guy in the red shorts will now sue for his hurt feelings.

And thats a good idea Judi Kay, we should all email and complain. I just wrote walmart headquarters, hope others do too!

However, store policy is written for a reason. Do we know BOTH sides to the story ??
Was the Greeter putting himself in danger by his actions ??
I HATE wal-mart, BUT they may be right on THIS one !!
Either way, I do NOT think it was handled properly...

Well, I just watched the video on the link Baack posted, and it looks as if the Greeter handled it well. he did NOT approach the guy, simply tried to write down his license plate number. The guy saw him doing that, and ran back to attack him. Other people soon intervened, it seems pretty clear who was attacking who.

I just checked my email, and here is the response I got...

    Dear Judi,

Thank you for your recent inquiry regarding an incident at our Palm Bay, Florida store. While we appreciate his intentions, Mr. Bauman's actions put his safety - and perhaps the safety of our customers - in jeopardy and, in the process, violated company policy as it pertains to how we treat people in our stores. As an unfortunate result of these circumstances, Mr. Bauman is no longer employed by our company.

    Sincerely,
    Walmart Customer Care

Here is the response I sent back to them...
So, Let me understand this...Mr. Bauman should have stood there and allowed himself to get beaten? Maybe even killed?!? What kind of policy is that? If this is the way you allow your greeters to be treated, and then fire them for defending themselves, I will no longer shop in any of your stores.
    This is outrageous!!

And jtrnr, I've watched the video countless times, and this greeter was simply trying to do his job, and got beaten for his trouble, and then fired.

Watching the video 100 times-will not explain company policy to you !!
I am sorry, but he was wrong--as PER COMPANY POLICY !!
If he had followed policy, he never would have been assaulted.
I didn't like it either, when I saw it. However, neither one of us set company policy !!

It appears that a large group of citizens (many retired) have rallied around this fired individual. They are setting up a meeting with walmart. They are attempting to get him reinstated. Updates when I hear more. Might be on the noon news today.

Baack, Beechvtail and simplyred1962 Thank this.

I'm not buying a #### thing from wal-mart ever again. How's that for policy.
