ah, the restricted route makes moer sense. I was thinking it must be after you said the truck stuck out like a sore thumb. Taking a restricted route to bypass a scale is just way beyond stupid.
Heh, i got pulled over by a CHP officer (a regular one, not a dieselbear), on a restricted route once. He thought i was bypassing the scale, and was super super pissed off at me. Once he realized i'd just made a simple mistake, he was a lot more friendly and struck out most of the offenses on the ticket he gave me. LOL. "gimme back that ticket i need to do something to it!"

Now what I am not understanding is the Health Issue on this part! How is me being 20lbs overweight going to affect my performance?
I am 5'9 and 216lbs, I have high blood pressure(controlled). I eat right, my excersice has flatlined, but on the flipside, I am not your average joe smoo trucker! From what I am hearing, this could have very severe consequenses like loosing my CDL!
Now I know I can speak for a bunch of us drivers here, there is not any other job out there that pays what we get. If I do not buy, and stay with the Co. that I am with, I will make close to $70,000 this year.
I thought we lised in the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA! It seems to me that Big Brother has gotten a little to big for his britches! and is now telling me , TELLING ME HOW TO LIVE MY LIFE DAY TO DAY! -
You have the right (at least for now) to be as fat as you want, to be as unhealthy as you want!
BUT driving a truck (or anything else for that matter) is a priviledge! They can revoke that priviledge at any time, for a variety of reasons. We all know this. But if you are thinking that the medical card standards are becoming more strict, you would be right. IMHO, these standards are begining to have less to do with safety and more to do with profitiring (spelling) and social enginering.
They want drivers to spend more of our money if we want to keep our jobs with the sleep apnea myth, and they want society as a whole to eat better, exercise more and lose weight. How efficent and easy it is control a population that relies SOLEY on the gov't for permission to earn our living!
Dont live up to the standard, no matter how stupid or NON-SAFETY based it might or might not be, and you dont get to work in trucking anymore.
You are right, we are losing our freedoms ALL IN THE NAME OF PUBLIC SAFETY! But if you want to be on a public road then some standards are needed. I just feel THAT ANYONE, REGAEDLESS OF THE TYPE OF VEHICLE THEY OPERATE, should held to the same standards!
How can we have "equal protection" under the law, when there exists UNEQUAL REGULATION AND ENFORCEMENT???Double L and AfterShock Thank this. -

MT, the FMCSA and other federal and state agencies that regulate trucking, either through enforcement or public safety, do not want drivers that have potential health issues to pass out at the wheel and loose control and cause an accident. Look at many drivers and lets be objective, many drivers are very overweight, have high blood pressure, and eat junky food, which is super high in salt and empty carbs. In many cases, many drivers along with a huge portion of Americans are a step away from a heart attack. Its not personal its professional, we as a nation have a huge problem with obesity, we are the fattest nation on earth. I think this is something noble the the Agency (FMCSA) has taken into consideration and is wanting to educate motor carriers and drivers.

Good points. Likewise, I, as a seasoned professional, do not want to share the road with drunk and drugged four wheelers or any other drivers possessing the very same health risks that could cause them to crash into me. Just look at the statistics that we all know, the majority of crashes are not cause by the truckers.
While it is sometimes hard to believe, we drivers are also (mostly) US citizens. As such do WE not have the same right to be protected from non-truckers as much as they do to be protected from us?
There will always be stupid people on the highways regardless of how many laws are passed and how much enforcement effort is put forth. They will drive cars and motorcycles and trucks and manage to injure and kill others, and no amount of legislation can possibly prevent it.AfterShock, Katz, outerspacehillbilly and 1 other person Thank this. -

I've said it before but it bears repeating: all vehicles operated by anyone, regardless of size or configuration, that operate on PUBLIC roadways should be held to the same standards! -
No offense taken, but I am not "FAT". If you were to see me, you would think the same as well. My High Blood Pressure is Hereditary, Salt has been all but eliminated from my diet. When I was going to the gym on a daily basis, I lost the weight, but my blood pressure stayed the same,"Controlled with Medicine".
IMO, This Government has gotten way out of control, what happen to " By The People For The People"? Seems like we the people have been pushed aside. or even better yet, Our Democratic Government has become a Totalitarianism System!
MR. Inpector, I agree with you to a certain point, my belly does no touch the ground! I park in the back of the truck stop to get the needed walk. I run or jog from dock to truck( I deliver to markets in the A.M. no time for lolly gagging around. I do not smoke. My wife packs a cooler full of food(saves money as well it is a lot better than truck stop food!) -

Is it true now that if your stoped for any reason even if your not ticketed that its a mark on the company your leased to and an automatic audit for them?
And now if your ticketed say a $200 fine for a leaky wheel seal your company your leased to also get a $200 fine?
