One major difference is work man's comp. If you slide out of that truck on a wet day. The 1099 guy has to have there own insurance. Since they are in fact a independent contractor.
So if you break your knee or ankle in said accident, will you be insured? Ask that company.

I did 1099 for 6 years, and if I didn't have to go that route, I wouldn't have. I only went that route to clean up my record. Unless you're going to be putting a lot of capital into the truck and/or business, there is no benefit in it for you. Companies that hire that way are only passing tax liability on to the driver. After you pay your quarterlies, you aren't going to be making much more than W-2 driver. That 70 cpm on a 1099 looks great til you start doing math.Last edited: Feb 6, 2022
