It is always good when you can find an honest hardworking shop that takes care of their customers.

Florida Truck and Trailer in Bartow, FL fixed a few issues on a hopper trailer for me. Busy shop, but they fit me in within a few hours, and did a right job at good prices. They charge $85/hr for shop labor, have a parts yard on site, and they don't rob you for used parts. Their shop is large, and they do everything in house - including body and frame repair. Highly recommend them if you're ever down that way.

CTR tire service in Bartow, FL is good for used 22.5's and road service. I got a near new Bridgestone steer tire to match on the trailer for $158 out the door, and I kept the old tire to turn in. I brought it to them for that price, it would've been more on the shoulder. They did have contact trucks for roadside service.

I'm glad someone brought this thread back to life... I've been looking for it & never could find it!

    Silver Truck Repair
    16320 Stern Dr.
    Vado, NM 88072
    915-355-3530

I-10 exit 155 in the National Truck Stop parking lot!

I went in there last week with a broken airline... I could hear it, just couldn't find it. Undercarriage of the truck & trailer were packed full of ice & snow (from last weeks Snow storm in New Mexico & West Texas).... The man looked & looked through all that ice & snow, found my broken airline & repaired it! It took him 2.5 hours & he charged me $42.90!

I originally was heading to the TA in Las Cruces until I saw his shop back there... So I took advantage of it. TA would have charged me a couple hundred easy!

Don't get any parts from Southern Powertrain of Charlotte .. They will not stand behind their parts if you have a failure...

as one of these little shops I never understand why folks would rather be ripped of by one of these big chains

I usually wind up pulling into a T/A at 2 or 3am with a problem that can't wait. A T/A along I70 near Columbia, MO hooked me up one night when I broke a flex-pipe. I told the counter man that I needed it fixed quick and cheap. Once they looked it over, it had enough length to be cut short of the break, and then slid forward and re-clamped. It took about 2 hours for them to work it over, but they only charged me $50! After I found that out (DEAL!) I had them change the fuel filter on the frame for another $40.

That spot repair lasted all the way to DE, where I could offload and take a day off for repairs. I called around and found a Peterbilt dealer that swapped it out for $180 with stainless flex and new clamps. I'll check my records and post the names and locations of both of these shops - they treated me right!

I prefer not to be ripped off by anyone... But do you know how hard it can be to find decent service when your 1000 or 2000 miles from home? You don't know anyone & you don't know who is reliable. You have no clue where these off the wall shops are at on the beaten path.... So you tend to stick with what you know... I can name every town across this country that has a major flying j, ta, & petro shop. But I be ###### if I'd know where Joe's Tractor Trailer repair is at.

NTTS will give you most of them online usually a better deal from the little guys the parts markup at the chains is stupid nuts and a lot of times a wait where I run I get to know them all and I also run my own so I am very aware of when they pull there crap
like one of the chains by me has a policy that if you supply parts they double there labor as well as sell ya junk ya don't need

the are however good for oil changes and buying tires as us little guys cannot get the price breaks they do buying 5000gal of oil and truckloads of tires
