I'm possibly interested in acompany called Normandin, and I was wondering if there's any info on that particular company?
Also what is the difference between 13 speeds and the 10 speed transmission? I know that on a 13 speed there are two high and lows or split shifters, but is there anything else that I should know about that type of transmission?

Attention employers: We now require a valid DOT# for anyone wishing to post a driving position. If your job offer doesn't contain a DOT number, it will not get past moderation and will not appear in the forum. The other requirements in the sticky at the top of this section are still required as well. Thank you for understanding.
Normandin

straight ten, pretty straight forward.
On a 13 speed, there is a range select and a splitter, you split your 4 high gears.
rookietrucker and JewelsnTools Thank this. -
Thanks for the reply. So what you're saying is that you shift a 13 speed like a 10 speed, but you split the last four as if I was splitting the last four or five hears on a 10 speed
If so what's the button in back of the shifter for? -
No, on a ten speed, you pre-select your range when in 5th gear and then move into 6th, then you stay on the high side and continue through your gears.
On a 13 speed you pre-select your range in 4th gear and once you move into 5th on the high side, you then split each gear thereafter with the splitter on the side of the shifter. you pre-select with the splitter also, it wont split a gear until your foots off the gas. just think of your high side of the range as having two gears, per slot.
And on a 18 speed, your able to split the high and low side of the range.
It's kinda difficult to explain, but if you saw it in person and did it, you would then have a greater understanding of it.JewelsnTools Thanks this. -
Thanks again. One last question so the oly time I use the normal splitter would be after I select fourth gear, after that it's the little selector on the side or back depending on the model of the shifter?

Also on a 13 speed you ignore 1st (granny) gear, unless your on a hill fully loaded. So its really a 12 speed.

you only use the range select (the switch on the front of the shift knob) when going from low to high range and back down to low, just like on a straight ten.
JewelsnTools Thanks this. -
You should get a job as a trainer you'd be good at it. In less than four paragraphs you solved an entire question. Maybe you should run for the senate or something.

hahaha, I'm just a silly redneck country boy, they would laugh me out of any government position when i walked in wearing a t-shirt, blue jeans, carhart coat, work boots covered in mud.

Normandin is a Canadian carrier out of Quebec, I do believe.
