Nobody will bother you for idling up here,

There are no IdleAire's up here anywhere, so you will have to idle.

 

That only works when you drive for a company that allows you to idle.

 

There are only a couple of truck stops near Buffalo Period. and I never see DOT there. If you are really concerned, go to the native places.

 

I think I understand that you normally are not in Ontario. Just handle keeping warm there like anywhere else. Temps might be read in Celsius, but cold is still cold. And yes, you can drink the water there. LOL

 

If you haven't been to Canada before you need to know about exchanging money . All businesses will take U.S. dollars but some will rip you off on the exchange rate . Avoid the travel centers unless you use a credit card . Your bank will figure an accurate exchange rate .
The Flying J in London just east of where the 402 and 401 come together gives a good exchange . I'll stop there and buy a coffee or something and pay with a $10 or $20 bill to have Canadian change to use in vending machines where I unload .

Is the Fifth Wheel T/S still down in Missasauga (don't remember the exit no)? How about the Husky or Shell off Dixie? Was at the Shell one night several years back; was abt -30F and everyone was idling. Some whackjob came banging on trucks and screaming at truckers, demanding they shut down. He got his butt well whipped. But he had law enforcement there every night thereafter and the Husky too. Dang near put both out of business. TO is NOT trucker friendly.

 

Everyone idles at both the Husky and the Shell (flying J fuel stop) off Dixie. Good luck getting a parking spot though. I think the nearest Fifth Wheel is in Milton.
