The question is simple, but your answers im sure vary. Why do you want to drive truck? I can't tell you all how many times I've heard people on here, mostly wannabe's say that it's their dream job. I heard it said inside the local driving school too, guys in there still doing the paperwork side of it, never had seen the inside of a truck in their life, but its their dream job. For some of us, such as myself, it rus in my family. I come from a family of truck drivers, its in my blood. I've known I was going to drive truck since I was 8 years old going out summers off school with my dad in his truck. What drives you people to want to drive so badly?
What drives you new drivers to trucking?

I want to do it, because of the positive image the general public has for truckers, and the fame and fortune.
Please I really like all those trucker movies, Smokey & the Bandit, stuff like that. And can't beat the cool truck driving songs, Give me 40 acres... 6 days on the road...doubledragon5 Thanks this. -

You should have put (sarcasam) at the end of that line LOL.. -
I have wanted to drive a truck since I was in 7th grade but never acted on it until I got laid off from my current job. As soon as my son is born, I'll be headed off to school...

What he said, and the family type atmosphere at truck stops. The willingness by other truckers to help at a moments notice. And the great nutritious food at Truck stops.LOL

I drive cause its in my family and in my blood, my great great grandpa started a company that my uncle still runs to this day. Dont drive for them cause its not good to work for family. But I also love it for the the willingness(for the most part) of drivers willing to help others out. I love the fact that you can stick 20 guys in a bar while the big roads shut down in wy and everyone is drinking and telling stories like you've all known eachother for ever. I miss that but I love local work just as much now. Still got people looking up to ya and helping you out in town. Tell ya though its a lot different driving a concrete mixer through the woods compared to driving a tractor and 53 footer through chicago or any major city in the US.

Beats the hell out of a cubicle. I can blast jams or listen to talk radio without offending the overly sensitive liberals in any cubicles around me. I'm given a job to do and within the rules, I can do it my way with no boss breathing down my neck. I take lunch when I'm hungry.
Other than that, it's for the truckstop restrooms. lolRACEFAN, sydsdriver and 73 FJ40 Thank this. -
