Unlcle Joe has approved more new leases than even Daddy Trump, oilfield is booming like in 2014.

Also someone that hauls stuff up the Dalton is typically called a Haul truck driver, they don't drive on ice roads and the only info they get is from the 30 minutes they spend talking to someone that works in that area while they unload supplies for the workers in the area.

    LilRedRidingHood and AkIceRoad Thank this.

Ok so All of Alaska in winter has Ice Roads so the Haul Road or Prudhoe Bay or North Slope is NOT the only place where there is ice! We drive on ice in Wasilla everyday. I just had to say that . Stating point because of the obvious reason.

No, Wasilla doesn't have ice roads like in Prudhoe Bay. I used to live in Palmer and parked my car in Storage Cache in Wasilla when I left for the slope.

There are some ice roads on the Dalton highway but they're short and not many. What separates an ice road from any other road is that it's literally made of ice and nothing else, the reason for that is that it's not a permanent road and once the ice is gone there can be nothing else left behind.

The Dalton highway and any other road is made of gravel and the use of chains, sand or salt is permitted. The use of ANYTHING other then regular tires is prohibited on an ice road.

That is your own rule. Your own defined explanation. You can argue if you like but I got time for something else instead of messing with you. I know all about Ice Roads and Ice bridges. I drove on them after I built Ice Bridge to Healy. Go argue with yourself. If I drive on Ice and its on road I can call it Ice Road if I want.
I wasnt born yesturday and I didnt just start living here yesturday. I can call it ice road if I want. You can say what you want. Find another arguement

That is not my own rule but I love your moxi, maybe you should rethink your career and become a politician.

You could train drivers to drive on the ice roads of Texas, it could be extremely lucrative. You could make it all the way to the statehouse with that attitude, never let anyone limit your dreams or vision.

An ice road is an interesting concept, but here in AZ we prefer to use ice to cool our beverages. Seriously though IS there an ice road certification need or process to go through? Is that a class that can/should be taught in a CDL school in AK?

Not that I know of.......it is simply the skill to drive on ice and understand the risk involved in doing so. Yes there is certification to go up to the North Slope and your skills may help keep you safe.

You should come to Canada then, I guess we’re all Ice Road Truckers. In winter it’s s slim chance you’ll find a bare road everywhere you go.
