2005 is a while ago and dismissed is dismissed. More companies than not will give you a chance. I’m guessing you don’t have issues with alcohol still, as if you did I’m sure it would’ve come up since 2005 again. I just know one thing, drinking and truck driving do not mix. When I first started truck driving I was someone who would have drinks a few nights a week. Of course never on the truck, but I learned quickly best to just give it up all together unless home for several days. No place for it out here.

i’ll also be upfront with you about something else. Technically you should be able to answer that question that you have no felony convictions. But something that sucks in America is any more employers considered an arrest almost like a conviction. They truly do. In fact someone introduced a bill to Congress a while back, with the idea of prohibiting potential employers from seeing arrest records. Only convictions. But I don’t know whatever happened to that. so yes, they’re probably going to see your arrest and dismissal with a no contest. That’s just to talk about it upfront and get it out of the way. Describe it just like you did here and you’ll be fine. You’re coming up on 20 years ago. That’s a long time to keep your life straight. You’ll be fine! Enjoy truck driving

I’d just get the jab and stay where you’re at .
Or say you got the jab .

its just a slip of paper .

I understand . “my body , my choice .” Only applies if you’re killing your baby , which is praised by the same people who are demanding that you get a vaccine , for a virus that’s mutating too fast to create a vaccine for .

I got the vaccine , and a year later I got covid .
maybe it helped it not be as severe , but there’s no way to ever know .

most employer mandates have been knocked down in court , but again , they don’t witness the shot , they just want a copy of that slip of paper to go in a file cabinet. .

In 1979, I had to fill out a rather lengthy application for a Top Secret security clearance. In that application, at that time, it was worded: "Did you ever get caught using drugs or abusing alcohol?" (I had done both but was never caught). So, I truthfully answered "no". Five years later I had to fill out a similar application to renew my clearance (Security Clearances last 5 years). However, couple of,things had changed. 1st off I got clean and sober. 2nd off, they reworded the form. Now it asked: "Have you ever used drugs or abused alcohol?". Significant difference! Anyway, at the advise of a friend who had a higher level clearance than I did and had been a heroin addict in Vietnam, I answered truthfully. Things got a little crazy for a bit, but I was granted the clearance renewal. One saving grace was I hadn't lied on the original application.
Moral of the story: Be care how a question is worded and answer the question as it is stated!

Thanks man I appreciate the reply, no problems with alcohol or drugs. I was in a different place back then and was coping in all the wrong ways. I’ll have a beer here and there but I don’t have crutches or vices anymore.

Agreed, I fully expect it to come up even though it’s dismissed and I’ve paid my dues. I’ll just be honest and explain if anything, if they don’t see the value I could bring then it’s not my loss. I appreciate the thought and you providing your perspective.

It’s crossed my mind but I really am not gonna do anything to jeopardize my streak of staying out of trouble. Different time of my life that would’ve been my first choice lol. I also don’t want to support a company who’s going to try and force their employees to choose between a paycheck and their version of what’s best their wellness.

How could it jeopardize your career ?

I got the vaccine , because I have asthma and some other lung issues and figured the risk was worth the reward of maybe not getting covid or not getting as sick.

but when I got it , they just handed me a card with the name and date and location on it .

as far as I know there is no way for your employer or anyone else to even begin to attempt to verify it

my state has free vaccine sites set up and they made a big deal out of saying they were not asking for any form of ID, because they wanted the illegal immigrants to get the vax .and didn’t want to scare the illegals away from getting the vax.

My employer has stopped short of requiring it , but they are doing everything they can to encourage it .
Day off with pay to go wait in line and get it etc .

If you like your job and want to stay I’d just tell them what they want to hear .
I can’t think of any way for them to ever verify it one way or the other ,

and there is always the possibility of a trucking company requiring it , either now or in the future .

Under no circumstance find the PDF of the vaccination card online and print it on white card stock and then fill in dates and signatures as if you were up to date with all the vaccinations and boosters. If you do you might accidentally make the minimum wage employee looking at your "vaccine passport" think they are looking at a real vaccine passport, and not a novelty item.
