Dang I'm jealous. Dont think I've been on that 550?

It used to be called NM 44. I prefer to run it as opposed to via Gallup. It's all 4-lane. If you have fast truck and in a hurry, you should probably run via Gallup but otherwise this route is more enjoyable and gets less snow then the Gallup area, although many don't like dealing with the Bloomfield, Farmington and Waterflow section, but it's 22 miles less and most is wide open. There is a fuel stop and casino about 25 miles northwest of Cuba with parking for about 20 trucks.Oldironfan and Oxbow Thank this.

Looked through the whole thread. Nice…
But gee…. Nobody took a pic of the greatest sight in the country. You ain’t lived till you’ve seen this!

Seriously…. I always think individual mountains on the edge of Salt Lake are absolutely beautiful. One after another. I think: Gee that’s a beautiful mountain. Then another and another. They have character, diversity, and all. Bottom to top. I confess I haven’t taken a pic myself.
