Hi everyone, just wanted some advice on what I can do to save money on food. The company I hired into has no inverter on the truck. Don’t want to spend what I earn on food from truck stops very much. Thanks all in advance

    bentstrider83 Thanks this.

Which company did you hire on with? Maybe some of their drivers on here has some suggestions for you.

I don't have a fridge or microwave, so I use a 12v Koolatron 28qt cooler to keep cold items. I also recently picked up a small butane camp stove for cooking and heating food that I can use on the catwalk.

CrockPot makes a small soup warmer, only draws 50 Watts, can easily run off a small inverter which plus into a 12Volt utility outlet. Takes about an hour to warm a can of Ravioli.

Switch companies fast. I have a 110v freezer, microwave, as well as a refrigerator. Meals are vacuum packed and drinks etc go in the reefer. Estimated savings $250+/wk.

    We
    Western Express
Because my husbands DAC had some stuff on it and they wouldn’t hire him anywhere else

We will have to be here for at least 6 months until I get trained so we can switch over to my husbands company. They wouldn’t take him anywhere else because of stuff on his DAC and they wouldn’t take me because their insurance said I needed 6 months of training first.
He didn’t want me alone so we went with Western

Buy a cigarette lighter cooler and a lunchbox cooker.
