I'm primarily driving in an area that has much stronger coverage with Verizon. Does anyone have a recommendation for an ELD that will work on Verizon's towers other than Verizon Connect?
I have KeepTruckin right now and like it, but I need to upgrade and it's my understanding that their new hardware uses AT&T, correct?

KeepTruckin is an app on a cell phone or tablet. Go find any used or pre paid phone that's on Verizon network and your good.
-
So the ELD itself doesn't upload data? It still transfers back to the phone or tablet to upload?
-
Correct. The eld simply is a bridge between the phone and the ecm. Basically a wireless wire. It does save some eld data, but not much and only if the phone isn't actually connected to the eld right then.
-
Not correct if you have the data with it. The basic one only uses the cellphone. I believe they have even gotten rid of that option if I understood right.

Per Keep Trucking
Is there an extra cost?
No, the KeepTruckin Pro and Enterprise plans include 500 MB of data per unit per month. KeepTruckin Starter plans do not include WiFi Hotspot.
You can get the other plan still but it does not include IFTA tracking. -
According to their website all they have is the cell phone option. Of course their website was more worried about getting contact information than actually listing what they provide, so I guess one really needs to contact them to see what they actually offer.

Read my last reply as it shows what I stated. You can hook up a iPad with no cell service and connect with wifi on them as they have the own wifi of 500 MB per month. they still offer the none wifi option but you cannot do IFTA with that plan.
