In the late 70’s I lived right off of state hwy 27 in Ms, that runs from I-20, south to I-55 and hwy 49. I recall on more than a couple of instances where trucks laid over and they killed every single animal and state machines and dump trucks hauled ‘‘em off. I never understood the reasoning. I had heard, not knowing, that it was account of insurance not paying unless the load was a total loss.

California does that too. When in doubt, just start shooting. It's a really bad policy. I watched them shoot a load of sheep on 80 near Cisco Grove one night when there was absolutely no need for it. Most of the sheep went over to the meadow by the lodge and were no danger to anyone..
A couple of guys with stock dogs stopped and offered to help until the owners got there but the CHP ran them off.
I don't know how many they shot but it was a bunch. Every time a sheep would wander out of the meadow toward the highway they'd shoot it.
I can see where sometimes it might be necessary but in this case there was just no reason for it.Oxbow, D.Tibbitt, Gearjammin' Penguin and 3 others Thank this. -
That is just sad. I guess too many people are sue happy and maybe they are not willing to take the chance of a loose critter causing an accident.Oxbow, JoeyJunk, Crusader66 and 1 other person Thank this.

Based on the website information excluding former CDL holders from the training requirement, I called a local TN DMV office to inquire as to what would be required to regain my CDL.
The nice woman on the phone told me that after Feb7, I would be required to attend training school. When I pointed out what the FMCSA website said, she was quiet for a second and then said she was unaware of that and she would have to check into it. She also made the comment that she did not think it applied to someone that had not had a CDL since 2012 but she would need to check into that too.
I will follow-up next week.
The next step will be to call the main office in Nashville.Gatordude, Suspect Zero and Feedman Thank this. -

It appears you don’t like livestock transporters.....so why come to a civil thread I’d theirs just to spew your filth, hate, discontent and out right stupidity. You have not the slightest clue about what we do. So sit on the sidelines quietly or educate yourselfNashville, Oxbow, Isafarmboy and 18 others Thank this.

But I’m sure somebody would certainly have no problem ordering steak at his favorite restaurant.

If you can afford it. I delivered a pallet of filet mignon the other day and for giggles I checked the retail value. Over $26k
