Where are you going that you need this stuff?

 

Anywhere. Or are you of the opinion crime only happens in specific areas?

 

I just can't imagine being so scared everywhere I go. The "random crime" is statistically insignificant. Vast majority of murders, the victim knew the murderer. If the person is that intent on doing you harm that you can't fend them off with a random object, they're probably smart enough to not attempt anything when you can retaliate. Does it happen? Sure, but why let the fear control you?

 

There's a difference between being prepared and being afraid. Do you think pioneers were afraid. Just because they armed themselves. Are police? No. You carry tools for the job.

 

I guess you never been in small town USA or rual America where tweakers & meth heads are out at 2 am looking for stuff to steal.. and they don't know their arse from.a hole in the ground.. nor do they care what they steal or from who

 

Yup. The whole point of pulling a weapon is to defend yourself. If your going to go to trial no matter what then may as well make it worth it and potentially make the world a less awful place. As towards protecting the trailer....#### the cargo its insured. Let the thugs have it. If they want me or whats in my cab well....i shoot to kill not disable. As a rule if you pull a weapon be prepared to take a life. If you cant or wont consider that...then dont carry.

 

You arent traveling through lands nomadic (or settled, regional differences existed) warlike tribes that are actively hostile to you because youre planning on stealing the best land from them...

Bit of a difference. I dont disagree that youve got a right to defend yourself, even lethally, but he's right, vast majority of violent crime is NOT very random, especially when you get into life-threatening, then its mostly people you know, be it a cheating wife/husband, or bad blood between neighbors, or even turf wars in defense of illegal activity that you cant exactly call the police for.

 

I'd prefer a knife at a gunfight honestly.

Always preferred knives.

 

If it's at the point I need a weapon to defend myself, I'm not gonna use something that might end up just getting me killed.

I have pepper spray for the stubborn individuals and other things for those who keep testing their luck.
