If the engine is shutting off due to high oil temp and engine protection is enabled, you will still get check engine lights coming on to warn you a shut down is about to happen and I believe you have 30 seconds warning time. If you get no warning and it just shuts off, then I would agree with other posts that there may be a power supply issue. At high engine loads, the injectors are commanded at a higher duty cycle which required higher current draw so if your ECM power supply circuits are bad somewhere then the ECM could be starving for amperage which is why it is just shutting off.
CellNet, spsauerland, bowser and 1 other person Thank this. -
I had that issue on a 97 fld only under hard pull then it died or sputtered and died with no check engine light . Corrosion in fuse by battery like you suggest was the cause and a easy fix.spsauerland, bowser and Heavyd Thank this.

i checked the fuses under the truck and running inline with the ecm and from the battery box. One was covered in oil, I do have an oil leak from the oil pan gasket right now, I cleaned the fuse holder and put in a new 30amp fuse even tho the one in there was good. I’ll see what happens now… I appreciate everyone’s input on this.Magoo1968 Thanks this.

Did you check ecm wire connection to the battery? A lot of time you can't see the connector is just bad, you gotta wiggle and pull it, to see if it's still good

i will double check for it. Thank you.

I have a similar issue I need help with 99 western star with n14 celect plus I pull hrs check engine and stop light come on if I barely let off accelerator it all goes away! Took to dealership they said only code stored was engine oil hot so we changed sensor, oil cooler and oil cooler thermostat. Oil temp stays lower according to the gauge but still has the same issue when I pull. Any help would be great!!

I fixed a Star around that year model with a CAT. It had broken down all over the SE and mid west. Over a 6 month or longer period. The tanks had been removed and cleaned. All fuel lines, supply pump, solenoid, relays, breakers and lots of things I do not recall and probably things I do not know about.
Its home base was close to me and I did lots of work for that company. They dropped it off and told me they did not want it back until it was fixed. Boss said he did not want it until it is fixed. Drive it back and forth to work. Spot trailers, take it to church and the grocery store he did not care just wanted it fixed. I had an old Pro Link hooked up to it and it started acting up after about two weeks. Cutting in and out and then shut down. Pro Link had a code and read low oil pressure. Manual gauge read good. Replaced the electric oil pressure sender and that solved the problem. It never logged a code. Temp sender and or wiring could probably do the same thing.Aron Thanks this. -
Did you ever find out exactly what the issue was I have a Volvo with an n14 celect plus doing the same thing?
