Or take advantage of the crazy prices list yours for 80k if ot sells drive for someone else and pocket the cash for retirement .....may never be a better time to sell .....(I have considered it with 9 trucks almost paid for)
Advice; Should I replace my high mileage, paid off truck?

Actually, I got an email from Ritchie to list it at auction. I'm tempted! Similar trucks are listed at $30k or more, it all depends on a lot of things.
I may just run it until fall, sell it, take the winter off, and work part time for somebody else next year or two. -
I’d keep it. Buying another is too risky. If you had 7 yrs till retirement. That’s different. Wouldn’t matter much either way. Between high prices right now, though you’ll get a decent price for the Volvo. Still be paying a premium. No telling what the value of any Truck will be in 2 yrs. It could realistically be half today’s prices. Coming down, just as fast as they went up. Keeping the Volvo, you keep the equity on your house. Considering that, depreciation, and the unknowns of any used Truck. A 2 yr. window isn’t very long. The current Truck will be worth something. Whatever that is, it’s something. It won’t owe you anything. You risk “chasing” a different Truck, trying to get your money back. Easy to end up at a loss, or needing to keep working another yr. or more to get back where you are now. Bottom line, can’t count on resale. Operating cost is most important. 2 yrs. is too risky. Better chance of running the Volvo to 1 mil. miles. Might even want to work longer. It’s all extra at that point. Same with the eventual sale. Little or nothing, it’s still something. Instead of being stuck with debt, maybe even more repair debt. The only risk now, is if a major engine overhaul is needed soon. Then the money spent, will need to be justified by running an extra yr. or 2 before selling.

None of us know the future, it's very risky right now IMHO, and I wouldn't advise anyone to go deeper in debt now.
Everything I own is paid for. Risking my home on another truck just isn't a smart idea.
I will keep running the Volvo as long as I can, oil analysis says the motor is good. I can still window shop trucks I want.
My plan is to get through this year, take Jan-Feb 2023 off, (I hate the cold/snow) work a little less in 2023, maybe a 4-day week. Put the truck up for sale later in the summer and retire when it sells. If it doesn't sell, I'll park for the winter again, and maybe I'll go to a 3-day week in 2024. If there's a catastrophic failure, I'll just scrap it and retire then.
Thanks all, I appreciate the advice, and surprisingly I took it.spsauerland Thanks this.
