Before I reached this thread I got reeled in by a roommate who drove for them in the past. He mentioned the good stuff including the pay guarantee but left out all the other horse hockey they put you through. I was working for a mega carrier at the time. Truck was in the shop for 8 days straight with no end in sight. They wouldn't put me in a spare truck and pay was minimal while in breakdown status. I had to fight with the company those 8 days just to be put up in a hotel. I was reaching out to other companies on the 7th day and my roommate recommended I try K&B. There were a few positive aspects to the change in companies like the pay guarantee and putting you in a hotel anytime your truck is in the shop but like I said the bad outweighs the good in my opinion. I am not a job hopper by any means but I am actively looking at other companies. Once COVID hit and they started rolling in the automatic trucks things really started going downhill

So KB makes you install an app on your phone so it won’t work in motion?

I imagine this is the future of trucking. Dash cams, cell phone blocking apps, collision mitigation systems, and all that fancy stuff that comes with being a company driver. They have a dash cam that faces the road but maintenance has said its for the collision mitigation system and they don't have access to it. Not sure how true that is. They had a class just for the app alone. Some drivers in the class were already familiar with it and said its a pain in the ###. You can make calls but have to have a bluetooth device connected. Phone doesn't always ring. I can't count the number of times my dispatcher called all flustered trying to reach me to do a last minute relay. This is a solo driver company which means they relay the hell out of some loads in order to make on time delivery. With the Omnitracs system you had a warning claxon that alerted you to important messages. Unfortunately the Omnitracs got replaced by the tablet ELD because of the 3G service discontinuation. This new ELD makes no sound under the messaging screen. Sometimes phone will switch to speakerphone instead of bluetooth. The only three apps that are supported are Trucker Path, Hammer truck GPS, and CAT Scale mobile. They said you can use Youtube Music but you have to pay a monthly subscription. I find it kind of funny though because the whole reason they started forcing the app on drivers was because one driver was on Youtube and caused an accident. I suppose you could get an ipod or some kind of portable music device and plug it up to the radio for playing tunes (besides the FM/AM radio). I imagine it won't be long before they will start adopting a Walmart or JB Hunt approach to cell phone use while driving

Random comment, this company and their drivers are some of the stupidest SOB's on the planet. They have a new drop yard in Commerce City, Co., but apparently the company and the drivers are not intelligent enough to figure out how to access it. The company I work for is two driveways down from the KB's drop yard, since KB drivers can't figure out how to access the drop yard, we routinely find them parked in our driveway, blocking access to our driveway, at least three of their drivers have tried to vandalize or break our security gate thinking they could access their drop yard from our yard.
Not uncommon at 3 or 4 in the morning when my coworkers or I are getting ready to head out, to have some KB driver come barreling down the driveway only to find out they are unable to access their yard. We've called them at least a dozen times, they supposedly sent out a memo or notice to drivers, apparently it didn't work, 1 am Thursday, three of their bobtails come down the driveway as I'm coming around the corner, they skidded to a stop. Confronting the first driver, I asked him what he was doing, he said trying to get to his trailer, I pointed out 1. He and all his coworkers had been notified by the company multiple times about not coming down our driveway, 2. he was currently trespassing, he then asked if I would move so they could turn around, I said no, they needed to back out the way they came in, they were not happy.
It's also not uncommon to see two or three of their trucks parked in the middle of the street while drivers try to figure things out, often times blocking access to other businesses. On one occasion a Commerce City cop led one driver by the hand back to the gate they needed to access to get to the trailers, on another occasion, one driver couldn't figure out how to work the gate, and backed out on to the main road and was hit by another vehicle.hotrod1653, drvrtech77, Lonesome and 1 other person Thank this. -
They have a warning in the order comments for the drop yard to use a certain business and not the Cartage company next door but I guess some of our drivers don't read. They switched to that new drop yard in Commerce City because they got kicked out of the previous one they were using in Denver for similar reasons. Drivers were dropping trailers where they weren't supposed to because they ran out of room. K&B is notorious for utilizing the tiniest drop yards and absolute worst truck stops to do relays. I have had to perform the function of yard switcher at some of these yards on many occasions because of limited space. The yard in Commerce City can only accommodate about 5 trailers at a time so I imagine its not uncommon to see trailer swaps happening

And drivers routinely don't follow those instructions, it really can't be that hard

K & B are run by idiots and frankly hire anyone..when a company calls 2hrs after submitting an app asking when you want to start, that’s a red flag…

Lol, Crete called about 5 minutes after I applied. K&B is very aggressive w emails, texts, and calls.
Lonesome Thanks this. -
Crete won’t be any better. Read the reviews on here.
