It is absolutely amazing how much one can spend at a truck stop vs walmart. I'm pretty good of saving, especially ather my 20s where I was use to spend $40 a day eating out.

I try to stock up when i get home so i do not have to worry about OTS expenses but not everyone has that luxury......
I try to park behind supermarkets and go shopping when i had a chance.... the smaller ones i go in and make sure they do not have a delivery coming in and say i would make it fast .

Well made it through orientation, been out with my instructor for bout 3 weeks, he went home for a few days so I had someone to come get me...Home for the first time in 1 month, seems like forever. Gonna go back to Springfield to test out when we go back out hopefully, had my 100 hrs for a few days now.

It's pretty straightforward. You go out to the pad and they test you on your pre-trip. Everyone does an in cab and the engine, then 2 more sections of the truck. Unless, of course, you are lucky, and get the whole truck. If you have been practicing it should be pretty easy. Be sure you have the brake test down. They are very exacting about the order. Remember to point at/touch what you are talking about. The Mantra: "properly secure, nothing loose, missing or broken!" If you realize you missed something, you can go back to it any time before the end.
After that you do your backing skills. Again, everyone does a straight line back and an offset. Then you will do either the alley dock or the parallel park. The key on these is to take your time and use your "get out and looks." I forget the point system, but, again, it's fairly easy if you've been practicing. Remember to get in and out of the truck properly. Hate to lose points on that. Also, pay attention to the instructions your tester gives you. If you don't understand something, ask.
Once you pass backing, you go out for a road test. Mostly testing the fundamentals: shifting, braking, mirror usage, two hand steering except when shifting, lane changing, signaling, turning (curbing is an instant fail), emergency stop, speed and following distance. Will also be quizzed on weight restrictions and clearances, so pay attention to signage. Be sure your in the proper gear and at speed before entering curves and exit ramps.
Pass that and you're off to the DMV to get your CDL. Then back to Millenium to complete paperwork that gets you hired.
