Chrome wheels

I haven’t seen any in years, but up until the mid 90’s you could get chrome budd wheels.

 

Those look like aluminum to me. A straight on photo would help.

 

During the 80’s there were many rigs sporting chromed buff wheels. These were much cheaper than chrome. Did not look as nice as aluminum but they also did not require as much work to keep them shining. Poor man’s cool.

Definitely looks like chrome rims.

the 2 holes thickness are too thin for aluminum.

I can also see the weld bead where the plate meets the rim.

They’re polished aluminum wheels, not chrome. Just polish them out, don’t rub tin foil on them unless you want to scratch the daylights out of them. Chrome wheels haven’t been available for a while, the last company that was doing it was using a chrome powder coat.

 

A really good polish once a year in the spring time and then just a quick touch up every now and then makes it really easy to keep looking good. If you keep after them you don't even need to spend 5 min on each wheel to keep the shine
