You STILL HAVE TO HAVE A CB LICENSE !
No REALLY you do but it is done by you using LEGAL radios and obaying the rules ....
PART 95--PERSONAL RADIO SERVICES--Table of Contents
Subpart D--Citizens Band (CB) Radio Service
Sec. 95.404 (CB Rule 4) Do I need a license?
You do not need an individual license to operate a CB station. You
are authorized by this rule to operate your CB station in accordance
with the rules in this subpart.
The reason for not requireing a personal one is it cost too much money to prosses them and how would you keep track anyway .......
Should you need a license to operate a CB?

Since individual licensing doesn't seem to be an option, if we could only find a practical way to clean up the trash on the citizens band. Ideas?
-
you want some ideas on how to clean up the airwaves? here's the biggest one! Don't allow ANYONE to by a radio that puts out wattage that exceds their I.Q. that by itself would cure a lot of the problems! There would be a bunch of 15 watt radios. I've been running radios in all my cars and trucks since the 70's ( yes, I have my license. KAVI 9212) and have NEVER felt the need to hook any "power" to any of them. I don't feel like having a battle of wits with some unarmed dummie at the truck stop.
73 FJ40 Thanks this. -
I wonder if our old licenses and call letters are still on file somewhere. Maybe in a retired cargo container that hasn't been opened in 30 years?
-
So all truck drivers are racist gay retarded rambo's? You should hang out with Gadfly sounds like he might be your brother.

Gladfly ....
He makes me feel so modest and low Key .....
Over more than 45 years I have talked to many a HAMTRUCKER and they didn't sound like a person of low IQ to me ........ -
Did I say that? No. Not all truckers are like that, but the ones that would say some of the things I posted are the same ones that would probably ignore getting a license if it were mandated. That was the point I was trying to make.

There is a way to shut them (super powered base stations) down.
Just like I've done in the past.
When in an area where a base has/is waaay over powered and is hogging the channels, I just lisened and got as much info as possible, ie:
handle, time of day, location, etc.
When I got back home from the run I was on I just sent a nice little information EMail to the FCC.You can file your complaint using FCC Form 2000F on the Internet at https://esupport.fcc.gov/sform2000/formF!input.action?form_page=2000F.
Many in Florida, VA, and other places have now gone quiet as FCC did go out and shut them down.

They ARE somewhat more active than they used to be, that's fer sure. And they seem to respond to complaints they used to ignore. They DID get some more funds and they hired some more field engineers, so getting caught is more likely. I don't want to get into the "10 Meter" squabble right now, but THAT is one of the causes for the increased enforcement.

If the freebanders stayed off 10 meters the FCC would not care what cb does ....
