Hi everyone,
I bought a truck for moving company and was trying to get insurance for it. I did not know that the process can be that complicated and expensive in Ontario, because before I worked only in US.
The only option I could get is Facility which has a premium of $16,000. It’s almost a trade-in value of my truck.
Asking for advice and help regarding commercial truck insurance without 3 years of verifiable experience.
Thank you in advance!

Almost impossible in Ontario. A buddy has his own company with 5 trucks great safety record . His son got his cdl at 18 he ended up putting a truck on with a Manitoba company so he could get experience even after two clear years they wouldn’t let him sign his son on without premiums almost doubling . Crazy thing is a lot of fly by night companies are plated from Ontario
Another Canadian driver and bark77 Thank this. -
Try cooperators..do you have any experience? How long have you held your commercial license and is it a new cvor? all these things can have an effect. dm me and I will send you my contact at cooperators. I paid 43K first year through facility. It is highway robbery at its finest.

I've been an owner op for 15 years, I got a quote last year to try to go out on my own and the quote was $25k. I tried shopping it and the next broker I went to said she couldn't quote me as the first broker BLOCKED me from getting quotes from any others?
She said I may get a lower rate if my "carrier profile" was good. I explained I dont have a "carrier profile" I've always run under someone else's numbers.
She said somehow I still needed to get my "carrier profile" or I wound get covered, but had no idea how or where I get that. She said I'd need to get it from my 2 previous companies. I gave up.Another Canadian driver Thanks this. -
Are you able to pick and book your own loads running with someone else’s numbers? If so, I would like to ask you some questions. Thanks!
Another Canadian driver Thanks this.
